This list of top dentists was created the same way you might find a good dentist: mostly by word of mouth. Washingtonian magazine mailed surveys to more than 2,000 randomly chosen dentists.  They figured since dentists see one another's work, why not ask them to name the general dentists and specialists to whom they'd send a member of their family.

 

A nonprofit and unbiased consumer based list of local practitioners who get the highest ratings and give you the background you need to make the right dental choices.

TopDentists™, a company that identifies the nation’s top dentists, surveyed the people who would know—the dentists themselves. They asked all of the Virginia dentists listed by the American Dental Association a pretty simple question: “If you had a patient in need of a dentist, which dentist would you refer them to?” Here is the list.
